This body of work, produced in 1999 for an exhibition in New York, examined how idiomatic expressions of color furtively tint and influence our collective perspective. Entitled In Terms of Color, the project was designed to present a suite of lush, crisp paintings detailing the color-related terms in our everyday speech. Each monochrome was saturated with over forty idiomatic expressions conveying a distinctly American turn of phrase. The targeted effect being a vividly hued compendium- indexing the social, political, and cultural forces behind our use of language.
